چکیده

A detailed mathematical analysis is undertaken of solitary wave solutions of a system of coupled NLS equations describing second harmonic generation in optical materials with (2) nonlinearity. The so called bright-bright case is studied exclusively. The system depends on a single dimension-less parameter which includes both wave and material properties. Using variational methods, the rst rigorous mathematical proof is given that at least one solitary wave exists for all positive. Recently bound states (multi-pulsed solitary waves) have been found numerically. Using numerical continuation, the region of existence of these solutions is revealed to be 2 (0; 1) and the bifurcations occuring at the two extremes of this interval are uncovered.

Stability of Three-Wave Parametric Solitons in Diffractive Quadratic Media.

Analysis of wave interaction in nonlinear media is a fundamental problem of nonlinear physics. Resonant interaction is especially interesting since it leads to an energy exchange between waves of different carrier frequencies. In a medium without the center of symmetry, quadratic nonlinearity results in parametric three-wave mixing when two waves create a third wave at a combined frequency v3 ...

Directional coupling for solitary waves in quadratic nonlinearity

The propagation of temporal solitary waves, formed in the second-order nonlinear medium, is analysed in waveguide directional couplers. The influence of the thirdorder nonlinearity on the switching effect is also presented. Recently, the great effort of nonlinear guided-wave phenomena research is focused on the cascaded second-order process which can produce relatively large intensity-dependent...

Bright and dark spatial solitons in non - Kerr media

An overview of the theory of self-guided optical beams, spatial optical solitons supported by non-Kerr non-linearities, is presented. This includes bright and dark solitons in optical media with intensity-dependent non-linear response as well as two-component solitary waves supported by parametric wave mixing in quadratic or cubic media. The properties of non-linear spatially localized waves ar...

Bright and dark solitary waves in the presence of third-harmonic generation

We analyze the effect of phase-matched third-harmonic generation on the existence and stability of (1 1 1)-dimensional bright and dark spatial solitary waves in optical media with a cubic (or Kerr) nonlinear response. We demonstrate that parametric coupling of the fundamental beam with the third harmonic leads to the existence of two-color solitary waves resembling those in a x (2) medium and t...

3 . 2 APPENDIX I 1 Beam Steering and Routing in Quadratic Nonlinear Media wit

Self-action of light is a subject of constant investigation due to the fascinating phenomena encountered and their potential applications to all-optical signal processing devices. Optical solitons, both temporal and spatial, play a central role in such scenario because of their unique particlelike properties. Here we study the spatial case. Until recently, optical solitons and their application...
